We have a Retail Shop and Teaching Studio at the North Dam Mill, 2 Main Street, Suite 17-229, Biddeford, Maine.

We are open:

  • Thursday evenings from 6:00 – 9:00 but we will close at 8:00 if there are no fusing class students present;
  • Friday afternoons from 12:30 – 5:30; and
  • Saturdays from 9:00 to 3:00.

TEACHING STUDIO

People continually ask us, “Do you teach?”  The answer is “YES!”

No reservations necessary … drop in when we are open and spend some time learning how to fuse and slump glass and create wonderful, functional works of art to keep for yourself or to give as gifts.  If you have been in our shop before, you know there are many fused glass items available for sale which you can use to inspire your creations!

You can start out with a small project or you can decide to work on a larger project – it is your choice.  Our students have made cabinet knobs, ornaments, window hangings, and one-of-a-kind dishes, which can be placed in the dishwasher.  Whatever you make, you will have a blast!!!

How does it work?

Drop in when you have time and want to play with glass.  Choose what you want to create … make what excites you! Pay the studio fee and pay for the glass and other materials you need to complete your project.  Simple.

Studio Fee:

The studio fee is $15 for 3 hours.  If you stay longer than 3 hours there will be an additional charge of $10.  The studio fee covers instruction and guidance in the art of fusing and slumping glass and the use of our tools. You do not need to bring anything with you.

Materials:

We have a great selection of glass available for purchase to create your projects.  Whatever you decide to make, you are sure to find glass that meets your needs – be it whole sheets, part sheets, frits, streamers, etc.  We also have available for purchase any accessories you may want to add to your project.

Hours:

We are open:

  • Thursday evenings from 6:00 – 9:00 but we will close at 8:00 if there are no fusing class students present;
  • Friday afternoons from 12:30 – 5:30; and
  • Saturdays from 9:00 to 3:00.

No reservation necessary … just drop in. Rainy day?  Come on down and have fun with glass!  Got company and not quite sure what to do with them on yet another day of their vacation?  Come on down and create a beautiful memory.  Retired and looking for something new to do?  We’ve got you covered!  Looking for a great wedding gift idea? Come check out our items for sale or, better yet, handcraft a gift yourself that will be treasured for many years to come!

RETAIL SHOP

We participate in approximately ten craft shows per year (see our Show Schedule http://mainecrafts.net/148-2/), but it is at the Mill where you will find the best selection of hardwood bowls, fused glass dishware, coasters, buttons, cabinet knobs and ornaments.  It is also where we exhibit our newest designs!

We also have incredibly beautiful, handmade Victorian lamp shades and handwoven scarves, placemats and other items.  Everything is handcrafted in Maine!

If you plan on stopping in to discuss having a custom-made valance made for your home, please give Polly a call (207.205.3971) or send her an email (dpplourdecrafts@yahoo.com) to confirm she will be at the Mill on the date you want to stop in.  If the times we are open do not work with your schedule, we can make an appointment for a more convenient time.

Hope to see you at the North Dam Mill!!
